Thank you for actively supporting the 25th Avenue Business Association. The feedback and suggestions from neighboring businesses help the board develop programs that will continually promote 25th Avenue as a shopping destination throughout San Mateo.

 

As Association President for 2007 I hope to encourage greater participation amongst the businesses. The board is working hard to find ways to bring more business to the Avenue, but we need many more volunteers to accomplish this goal. The board is a small group of business owners that represent the interests of the entire Business Association, but the Association is not just the board. It is every business owner in the district who pays dues and works hard at their own business every day. We all have the same goals to bring new business and be as successful as possible. We must work together to meet that end and develop additional marketing and promotional opportunities to bring attention to the fabulous variety of specialty shops on 25th Avenue.

The Association Board meets the first Thursday of each month at 5:00pm. We encourage you to attend one of the meetings and consider participating regularly. Greater participation from businesses on the Avenue will strengthen the impact the programs will have on the Avenue and increase awareness about individual businesses.

 

This year, the Association has many exciting initiatives underway.

 

This last January 2006 we continued our partnership with PeninsulaOnline.com and Amelia Dunne (650-610-8500) to develop this website, which aims to showcase the individual businesses while highlighting the benefits of shopping on 25th Avenue.  This website will allow for better communication among the 107 businesses on our Avenue, and allow us to connect the public with all of our events and news.  The website also includes a calendar and directory listing of all our businesses.  The website is fully dynamic, built with controlls that allow the 25th Avenue Business Association to update and change information internally, without having to go through a webmaster.  If you have any suggestions for website content, please do not hesitate to send us an e-mail or attend one of our board meetings.  Our content is updated constantly, so please be sure to check back often in order to keep up with the latest happenings on 25th!

On your next trip to 25th Avenue, be sure to check out the new banners that line the Avenue.  Our newest addition to the Avenue makes a strong visual statement identifying 25th Avenue as THE place to shop while unifying the businesses as a single destination.

 

Our series of commercials, which were developed in early March 2005, have been very well received.  We have aired the commercials over 600 times so far, and are scheduled for an additional three weeks of airtime before the end of the year.  Please check during the week to see the schedule, and be sure to catch some of your favorite merchants on your local cable networks. 

 

Business owners who have not yet been featured in one of the commercials, can still make their television debut.  We will film our fourth commercial as soon as five more businesses decide to participate.  If you are interested, please contact Don Wilson to find out what is involved.
